In our STREETSPACE this month, artists Cybele Cox and Eduardo Wolfe-Alegria bring their shared passion for hallucinatory ornamentalism to the streets of Redfern, building a subterranean grotto filled with gender hybrids to honour the goddess Hel. In THE SALON, Meng-Yu Yan evokes mystical multiplicities with an excerpt from their Talking Mirror series which explores the power of mirror-gazing as a form of truth-telling and occult futuring. On our TAXIDERMY T.V., Tristan Jalleh flips the script, rendering pre-apocalyptic landscapes almost illegible with a series of rotoscoped replications that reminds us of a corporate promotional video gone rogue. We know you’ll enjoy swimming in these spaces; just feel free to forget which way is up.
