Sometimes reality can feel like an out-of-body experience, filled with reflections, repetitions, mirrorings, reversals, upendings, queerings, turnarounds and switcharoos. It’s now a familiar kind of vertigo... we are watching ourselves watching and, in turn, being watched by Others.

For Art Month Sydney, The Bearded Tit beckons you in for OTHERWORLDLY, but be warned, you just might lose yourself.

In our STREETSPACE this month, artists Cybele Cox and Eduardo Wolfe-Alegria bring their shared passion for hallucinatory ornamentalism to the streets of Redfern, building a subterranean grotto filled with gender hybrids to honour the goddess Hel. In THE SALON, Meng-Yu Yan evokes mystical multiplicities with an excerpt from their Talking Mirror series which explores the power of mirror-gazing as a form of truth-telling and occult futuring. On our TAXIDERMY T.V., Tristan Jalleh flips the script, rendering pre-apocalyptic landscapes almost illegible with a series of rotoscoped replications that reminds us of a corporate promotional video gone rogue. We know you’ll enjoy swimming in these spaces; just feel free to forget which way is up.
