Featuring Dennis Golding, Darren Charlwood & Nicole Renee Phillips
3 July - 12 August 2017

This month we celebrate NAIDOC and pay our respects to our First Nations friends with a seriously great show by some local heroes. Just in case you forgot how super Redfern can be, young Kamilaroi/Gamillaraay artist Dennis Golding has turned our STREETSPACE back into a cloakroom by creating ‘pin-ups’ of his childhood comic book faves alongside power symbols from Kamilaroi country.

Inside, we have a heavyweight takeover of the CURIOSITY CABINET by Wiradjuri man Darren Charlwood, who is displaying a collection of found stone tools gleaned from all over the Inner West, alongside his beautiful carved weapons, which will not be be coming out to play during opening hours (it’s just too bloody heavy!). In THE SALON, Nicole Renee Phillips turns the micro macro with a series of visceral vibrant paintings that you could stare at for hours… and wait, we just did. Speaking of staring… our TAXIDERMY T.V. this month features a compilation of archival footage and films that mightteach you a thing or two about activism and the proppa history of Redfern.

So suit up and slide on over for the best kind of schooling…

The Bearded Tit acknowledges that this exhibition takes place on Aboriginal land which was never ceded. We would like to acknowledge the Gadigal of the Eora Nation, the traditional custodians of this land and pay our respects to Elders past, present and future.
