MUM’S BOTTOM DRAWER

A dusty selection from Joy’s mum’s bottom drawer, with some rare cellared South Australian beauties!

2009 Irvine Grand Merlot - $160
Eden Valley, SA
Considered one of the world’s best, with all grapes being hand-picked and oaked for 39 months in French Allier oak and a further 39 months in bottles, the 2009 vintage is rich, full-bodied with soft tannins.

2010 Henschke Mount Edelstone - $205
Eden Valley, SA
Made from 99 year-old shiraz vines and matured in French and American hogheads, this is an elegant and focused red with subtle spice notes and a long, fine finish.

2006 E&E Black Pepper Shiraz - $120
Barossa Valley Estate, SA
The superstar Shiraz from Barossa Valley Estate, this 2006 vintage displays concentration, richness and length with spicy oak characteristics.

2008 Penfolds St Henri Shiraz - $130
Multi-region, SA
An intriguing counterpoint to the Grange, St Henri doesn’t rely on new oak, which is unusual for premium Australian reds. The 2008 vintage is rich and dense with chocolatey, fine tannins.

2006 D’Arenberg Dead Arm - $145
McLaren Vale, SA
D’Arenberg’s flagship shiraz using traditional grape growing practices, the 2006 vintage has a freshness that belies its weight and power.

2006 Eileen Hardy Chardonnay - $140
Upper Yarra, Rokeby, Coal River Valley, Tumbarumba, Pipers Brook.
The best chardonnay from each Hardy’s vintage is selected for this iconic Australian. Retaining a lot of natural acidity, it’s medium bodied, creamy with subtle oak influences. Mineral notes and a nice clean finish.
